Cutter Head Setting and Measuring Machine
In the manufacturing process of spiral bevel gears, the quality of the gear cutting tools used plays a decisive role. Especially in dry milling, both high gear quality and long tool life can only be achieved with precisely adjusted cutter heads.
The CS 200 cutter head setting and inspection device enables quick and easy adjustment of individual cutters, checks their position, and documents the measurement results. The measurement process on the CNC-controlled inspection unit is semi-automated: each step required for the process is displayed to the operator via screen-guided instructions. Positioning the individual cutters in the cutter head as well as the height of the cutting tips is carried out largely automatically via a special routine and simultaneously documented by a runout diagram. A subsequent measuring routine checks the radial position of the inner and outer cutting edges of all cutters in the cutter head. If individual inspection parameters of the cutters do not meet tolerance requirements, these can be individually corrected. By combining a semi-automated setup process, operator-guided setup actions, and an automatic measuring sequence, cutter heads can be set quickly, accurately, and conveniently.
