TÜV and historic registration inspection (H certificate according to §23 StVZO) were successfully completed in September 2025.
General inspection (HU) valid until 09/2027 (inspected by DEKRA with "no defects found").
Year of manufacture: 1981 / First registration: 07-1981.
Total mileage only 29,800 km. Used exclusively by the fire brigade till now.
Pre-equipment rescue vehicle (VRW) with ZIEGLER body and Knurz-Kirsch power generator rated at 5 kVA.
German garage vehicle, always registered until autumn 2025, with original vehicle registration certificate (only two previous owners).
The manufacturer is still listed as GFG "Geländefahrzeug-Gesellschaft" in the original documents—a joint venture of Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria at the time. This is one of the last vehicles with this manufacturer designation. Shortly after, "Daimler-Benz" was listed as the manufacturer in the registration papers.

Permissible total weight (originally 2900 kg) was increased to 3030 kg in 1991 according to the documentation.
This gives the 280 GE a current payload capacity of 670 kg.

The G does not have a trailer hitch, but the necessary base mounting bracket is installed. Information about retrofitting or towing capacity cannot be provided, as the respective fields in the original registration document are marked “not applicable”.
According to the last owner’s verbal statement, the Mercedes is accident-free, but there is no written proof; this information will be passed on to the buyer as an oral tradition.
The 280 GE was driven a longer distance on the motorway to our location without any issues.
A new battery has just been installed.
